My stay at Hotel Catedral had its ups and downs. The location is fantastic, just a few blocks from the Old Town, making it easy to explore Quito's beautiful churches and plazas. However, the check-out process was frustrating due to a mishandled payment situation. Overall, while the rooms were clean, the dining options and facilities left a bit to be desired.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was clean and spacious, though it had no windows, which was a bit odd. I loved the traditional courtyard feel, but sound traveled easily through the hotel.
Service

The staff were pleasant and helpful, which made my stay more enjoyable. Their assistance with arranging taxis and local tours was appreciated, but the handling of my pre-paid reservation left a lot to be desired.
Location

The location was one of the hotel's best features; I felt safe and was close to the Old Town's main attractions, which made sightseeing convenient.
Dining

Breakfast options were very basic, and the quality of the food could definitely be improved. I found the lunch we had at the restaurant to be much better, with local fare that was enjoyable.
Facilities

While the common areas had a nice traditional charm, the overall condition of the hotel felt a bit neglected, with several facilities in need of repair. Wi-Fi was available but often unreliable.

5.0/10

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Catedral, ideally located just a few blocks from Plaza Grande, which made exploring Quito easy. The front desk staff were fantastic, offering helpful advice and even organizing a day trip to Otovalo and Mitad del Mundo. However, the rooms could use some updates, and I found the noise from the street to be a bit distracting at times.

Rooms

The room was small but adequate with a comfortable heater and good shower pressure. However, I experienced some street noise, so I recommend requesting a quieter room.
Service

The staff was friendly and went out of their way to assist me, but there were moments where I had to wait for someone to let me in after hours.
Location

The hotel's location in the historic center is unbeatable for those wanting to explore Quito's colonial architecture and lively atmosphere.

Breakfast was decent, featuring standard Ecuadorian options, but I was hoping for more variety than just bread and jam.

The wireless internet worked fine for me, and there was a guest computer available, though the hotel itself showed signs of needing maintenance.

I recently stayed at Hotel Catedral for three nights and enjoyed its excellent location near the historic old town of Quito, which made exploring a breeze. The staff were very helpful in arranging transportation and tours, although they were still getting familiar with local dining options. While my room was clean and spacious, it had no windows, which was a bit unusual. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but sound travel in the hotel could be an issue at times. 😊

My stay at Hotel Catedral was quite mixed. The location was fantastic, making it easy to explore historic Quito, and the staff was friendly and helpful. However, I had a challenging experience at checkout due to payment issues that left a sour taste. The breakfast offerings were also a bit disappointing, but I enjoyed the local lunch at their restaurant.

Hotel Catedral's location is fantastic, right in the historic part of Quito. I could easily walk to many attractions, but finding dinner options late at night was a bit tricky.
